You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is these that testify about Me
(John 5:39)
“The revelation of God in the Holy Scriptures gives us the written description by which all other assertions about God must be measured. This is the Word of God.” – Ravi Zacharias.
Our opinions, choices, and feelings must have a foundation in what is real and true, or else, we’ll live in a world of our own imagination. Our analysis of life and events must be seen through the window of truth; God’s truth. The Bible is the Book for a lifetime; and, a book which can only be understood by the reader when personally interpreted by its Author, God the Holy Spirit. If you personally know Christ Jesus, then delve into His Book; study and pray for understanding. This is a lifelong joy and necessity to the Christian. Learn to Think Scripturally.
If you do not know Christ, pray that He will make you to know what is real and true and to show you Himself. Don’t live in spiritual darkness thirsting for meaning in life and refuse the only remedy for sorrow and sin just because you do not fully and completely understand every Word and Work of God or every doctrine and promise found in Scripture?
God defines worship, obedience, honor, and what pleases Him. You cannot worship God, obey God, honor God or please Him if you ignore and neglect the Lord Jesus Christ and His written word, the Bible.
Pick up the Bible and read; meditate on what you have read and pray for understanding and wisdom from “…Christ Himself, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” (Colossians 2:3) Attend a church where Christ is preeminent and the Scriptures are taught and explained, not explained away or skimmed over.
“Here, then, is the real problem of our negligence. We fail in our duty to study God’s Word not so much because it is difficult to understand, not so much because it is dull and boring, but because it is work. Our problem is not a lack of intelligence or a lack of passion. Our problem is that we are lazy.” –R. C. Sproul
